The good news is by 1809 most were wearing the Korsehut with the large upturned flap on one side. Others wore everything from tricornes and broad-brimmed peasants hats (popular in the Tyrol) to tophat types with an upturned brim - much like the Swedes. So a straight forward guide to the most common type sounds like it'd be useful. I'll see what I can come up with - but it will be a long-term project!

Cheers,
DocDoc Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12454394616689797734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3020094779384982600.post-83256710342390901292010-10-18T03:26:25.582+11:002010-10-18T03:26:25.582+11:00Agreed! I am trying to do the same with the Hanoverians which are quite a puzzle. I found this post quite interesting. What figures are they, they look like elite in some sense but I do not think they are. By the way, I would love to have the ability you have with drawing, very nice job.john de terre neuvehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03898285039988448895noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3020094779384982600.post-58163893175867512112010-10-17T20:51:25.795+11:002010-10-17T20:51:25.795+11:00Thanks guys - I'll have to think about how I d...Thanks guys - I'll have to think about how I do a guide. I've got all the history and organisation written already in a simple Word document but I'll have to have illustrations of the uniforms and maybe a how-to of painting some basic figures. I'll think about perhaps putting it out as a PDF. But it'll be a long-term project at this stage.

Cheers,
DocDoc Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12454394616689797734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3020094779384982600.post-40543725623591269182010-10-17T20:18:44.021+11:002010-10-17T20:18:44.021+11:00Excellent post-I do like seeing other people's...Excellent post-I do like seeing other people's Austrians (just find the prospect of all that white a little daunting!).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3020094779384982600.post-4248245567991638452010-10-17T19:53:11.265+11:002010-10-17T19:53:11.265+11:00I'd love a "wargamer's practical"...I'd love a "wargamer's practical" painting guide on Austrians.
